S/V GLORY
Shannon 43 #49

Welcome
Our family of four, René, Barbara, Peter, and Julie has been sailing in New England since 1987. During that time, we have owned three wonderful sailboats, HAWKSNEST an Ericson 30 for one year, and another HAWKSNEST, an Ericson 32 for 13 years. The name HAWKSNEST was came from Hawksnest Bay in St. John, USVI where Barbara and Rene spent their honeymoon. Our Ericson 32, HAWKSNEST, was a terrific boat that the entire family loved, she was very reliable and wonderful to sail. However, as the family grew, we became interested in undertaking longer voyages and perhaps sailing to foreign ports. While HAWKSNEST was indeed a wonderful boat, she was not ideal for long passages or blue water sailing.
René
had been thinking about a larger boat for some time. At the Newport Boat Show in 1997 he saw the Shannon 43 from
Shannon Yachts in Bristol, RI and immediately fell in love with the it. In addition to the beautiful boats, Shannon
Yachts was based in Bristol, RI where Rene had grown up, and that sealed the
deal.
In June of 2000 our family ordered Shannon 43 hull #49 from Shannon Yachts, and she was launched on September 10th 2001. After you browse through the site please send your comments by clicking Comments on the menu bar.

Over the course of three seasons, GLORY has traveled from as far north as Maine to as far south Annapolis. We could not be happier with GLORY in terms of comfort or performance, we simply love to spend time aboard. We look forward to further expanding our cruising destinations as we enter our fourth cruising season. Currently, GLORY is at her dock the East Passage Yachting Center in Portsmouth, we are in the process of provisioning and prepping for our annual Forth of July Cruise.
